Akon: Freedom

Akon is an extremely popular Hip-Hop/R&B singer, has a career full of successful hits and records, but in my opinion the album named 'Freedom' (which was released in 2008/09) is his best one. There are many famous singles on this CD, such as 'Right Now Na Na', 'Beautiful', and 'I'm So Paid', but my favorite song out of all Akon songs ain't that famous: it is called 'Freedom'.

The song is basically about how Akon grew up in Senegal, but how he went to America for his mother and for his father, and to succeed with his music. In the song, Akon wants to get away from all his past mistakes and how he just wants to be free. You get the point. Except for the fact that it is a very good song, it is also an inspiring story about how he start with close to nothing but has gotten so far (and I am not just talking about money), so listen to the lyrics. It's worth listening to.

3OH!3 feat. Neon Hitch: Follow Me Down

The American Crunkcore/Electro Pop/Electro Rock group 3OH!3 created this masterpiece together with the English Neon Hitch. It was made for the great CD 'Almost Alice' (made for the not so great movie: 'Alice In The Wonderland'). The best thing about this song is that you can not help yourself from smiling, and all you want to dance all your worries away.

This song is mainly a pop song, but it has some electro and techno parts too. This song hasn't gotten any amazing listings on the charts (yet) but the CD 'Almost Alice' has gotten place no. 5 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart. I am a big fan of 3OH!3 in general, but this song beats all the rest, just because it is such a happy song that works for everyone. ♫ Hopefully for you too!

Death Cab For Cutie: I Will Follow You Into The Dark

Death Cab For Cutie is an indie-pop/rock band with a very unique sound - for some likings and for some negative critic. Whatever your feelings about Death Cab For Cutie are like, this song is pretty different from the rest of their songs, mainly because it is a acoustic songs full of emotions that usually aren't that easy to find in Death Cab's music.

"Love of mine, some day you will die
But I'll be close behind
I'll follow you into the dark"

As I just said, and as you can understand from the lyrics above, this song is very sad, yet full of love. The song is basically about how one lover promises to remain on his lover's side until death, and even after that. I find this extremely cute, and I never seem to grow tired of listening to this song.
This amazing song didn't reach any peculiar listing on any charts - unfortunately. Give it a chance. ♡

John Mayer: Your Body Is A Wonderland

John Mayer has this voice that really gets to me (and thousands of other people around the world) and whenever he raises his voice I get the chills. Another thing which I find so great about John Mayer is that he really knows how to show what he feels, and what he is trying to say with the song. What can I say? I am in LOVE. :)

I have many favorites by John Mayer, such as 'Who Says' and 'Free Falling' (If you have managed to miss these two hits you should check them out immediately), but the one I thought I would focus on today is 'Your Body Is a Wonderland'. Just the title is so sweet! ♥ This song was released in 2001, and it is an acoustic pop/ love song. In 2003, John Mayer won an award for the 'Best Male Pop Vocal Performance', and I definitely understand why. :P

The Last Goodnight: Pictures of you

'Pictures of you' is a song that is about letting go, about what used to be, and about what could have been. This is something that we all can relate to , and it brings up personal memories, and such.

It is a great alternative rock song, that comes from 'Poison Kiss' - an album released in 2007. The song even reached number one place in the Australian Airplay chart, number two in Czech, and other chart listings in several countries (including USA's Billboard list).
It is something you should definitely consider listening to if you want something light, still alternative rock style.

Linkin Park: Shadow of the day

Linkin Park is a popular rock band, that has had many famous hits such as 'Bleed it out', 'Numb', 'What I've Done', and many more songs. My favorite out of Linkin Park's big collection is actually 'Shadow of the day', because if is very different from the rest of Linkin Park songs. This song has a very different melody, and it is almost in a different genre that is more easy listening. It is still a rock song, but it is more alternative rock that gives you a happy feeling whenever you listen to it.

This song did not reach any top listings on the charts over the world, but it got a number two place on USA's Billboard list of Modern rock. The song was released in October 2007, but first performed in July 2007. The song comes from the successful album: 'Minutes 'til Midnight'. Hope you like it!~

Eminem: Without Me

Eminem is the one artist that sold the most records between 2000-2010, in the entire world (!) by selling 32 million albums. This is a huge number, specially when you think that Eminem is a rapper, and rap is a genre that is loved by some but hated by others.

'Without me' is from the album 'The Eminem Show' and it was the first song by Eminem that really got to me, just because of it's beat. Later I have gotten to love most of Eminem's songs, but this song still remains special to me, and millions of people around the world. This song has reached the number one place on many charts, and it is one of Eminem's most successful songs. Go Slim Shady (Eminem's alter ego)!~ xx.

Kanye West: Homecoming

'Homecoming' was in April 2008, and is a Hip Hop song that is very easy to like. The reason for this is that this song has an actual beat and a melody, which is what a lot of people are "missing" in Hip Hop/ Rap songs. I have heard it about a thousand times, but I still haven't grown tired of it, but let's see if you feel differently. ._.

It's best chart position was number 9 on UK singles, but it is definitely one of my favorite songs in the category of Alternative Hip Hop.
The music video to this song is extremely well done, so I suggest you take a look at it on:

Gary Jules: Mad World

"Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I wanna drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow

And I find it kind of funny

I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell youI find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very very, mad world, mad world
"

Mad World is a song full of emotions, and it is originally from an English band known as Tears for Fears, but Gary Jules made a cover of it for the soundtrack of the movie 'Donnie Darko'. I personally prefer Gary Jules version, and I most definitely want to recommend this song to all of you, and I also recommend you to listen to these amazing but sad lyrics.

First Time

What would life be without music?
Some people might say that it wouldn't make any difference to their life, but many people, including me, can't imagine a life without music. A life without rhythms, and beats. It is impossible to imagine, and it isn't anything I even want to imagine.
I am not a very musical person - unfortunately. I would love to have a voice that made people stop with whatever they were doing, and just blow their breath away, but trust me - my voice ain't like that. Neither am I very skillful with any special instrument, though I have tried playing the guitar as well as the piano. I guess everyone can learn something if they really want to, but I just prefer listening to music over actually playing or studying music. Therefore I will give tips to each an one of you about what songs are currently favorites, as well as old songs that just pop in my mind.
